In late November, the sight of an unusual grey import Chevy zipping around KL raised talks in the coffee shops of whether there was going to be a new Chevy launched soon. But just when everyone was certain that the car that they spotted is it, in early December, Hicomobil threw a surprise and instead launched a GM Daewoo based Matiz, badged as a Chevrolet Spark.
The Spark now joins Hicomobil's four-car line up and is the strongest yet in terms of market positioning as it stares Perodua straight in the eye. Chevy now wants a piece of the below 1000cc market. With very trendy looks and a size that is larger than a Kelisa - at 1495mm wide and 3495mm long - it is set to become the new small hatch standard.
