Fifth F1 Classic Car Event
On Aprils Fools Day, the 1st of April 2007 I was up at the crack of dawn to get to Dataran Merdeka for the 5th Malaysian Formula 1 Classic Car Concours. The event was co-organized by DBKL, SIC, Kuala Lumpur Tourism Action Council (KLTAC) in collaboration with the Malaysia and Singapore Vintage car register (MSVCR) with some 80 vintage and classic cars from Denmark, Belgium, Holland, Australia, Hong Kong and Thailand shipped in by container to be displayed. Malaysian and Singaporean classic car owners also put up a strong showing with some rare exotics like E-Types, Mercedes 500K and a Ferrari Dino. The ages of the cars ranged from 1921 to 1980 with some models being extremely limited and rare in the world stage. The concours competition, which is the judging of the authencity and originality of the car, was scheduled to start at 8.30am however with continues rain from breakfast to lunchtime; the owners were up in arms on what to do next.
