Kia Planning USD1 Billion Electric Car Factory For India
The Indian government has been quick to adopt electric car production and now news just in that Kia Motors will spend USD1 billion on a new assembly plant in southern India to build an electric car for that market by late 2019. The move comes just over a decade before India intends to ban the sale of fossil-fuel vehicles.
Kia Motors recently debuted an electric concept version of its Niro crossover that its intending to produce and this could be the model for India as SUV’s are currently one of the most popular vehicles for urban Indians. The Kia Niro EV electric car is expected to boast a 235-mile battery power range. Kia will build the plant in rural Anantapur District not far from Hyderabad.
